Lady Baker's Tea

Lady Baker’s Tea is a little tea company with a big dream located on Prince Edward Island, in Atlantic Canada. Our premium loose leaf teas are ethically produced at the finest tea gardens in Asia and Africa. We begin with the best seasonal quality tea, and have developed a growing number of custom blends that incorporate ingredients grown right here on our island. With approximately 50 varieties, we have teas for every taste and occasion.

As a member of the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada, Lady Baker’s Tea supports Fair Trade and the Ethical Tea Partnership.

The ‘why’ of Lady Baker’s Tea

When Lady Baker's founder, Katherine, was a young mother of 5 children, she had a friend, 30 years her senior named Irene Baker, who often invited her for tea. She would get out her fine china and pamper Katherine for an hour or two with tea, homemade cookies, stories and care. She acquired the nickname ‘Lady Baker’ because she embodied the finer things of life – tea and caring!

Irene Baker took time for what mattered and her name became the inspiration for a business!

After many adventures in catering tea parties, Katherine, owner of  Lady Baker’s Tea Trolley turned over a new leaf and opened a Tea Bar in 2007 at the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market in her hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Here, she and her team of passionate tea lovers offer a variety of premium loose leaf teas. Over the years, Lady Baker’s Tea Trolley has grown significantly and undergone a few changes like dropping 'trolley' from the business name and finding a more suitable location as a home base. This became The Abbey where production, packaging and shipping takes place. In 2018, Katherine studied to be a certified Tea Sommelier through the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada. Most recently, considering herself in the elderly category herself and longing to spend more time with 8 grandchildren, she was thrilled to meet Uan, an enthusiastic and energetic newcomer who loved the idea of a business with a focus on compassion, warmth, hospitality AND a really good product! Katherine remains on the team as a consultant and as a reminder that it is essential wherever we are and whatever we do, to Take Time for What Matters.
