Tea Brewing
1. Warm the pot with hot tap water till ready to use
2. Measure one teaspoon of tea per cup
3. Put tea leaves into infuser, sac or directly into pot.
4. Start with cold water in the kettle
Black Tea

- Heat water to a full rapid boil
- Pour boiling water over the tea leaves
- Steep for 3-5 minutes
Oolong Tea
- Heat water to not quite boiling (195 degrees)
- Steep 2-3 minutes
- Leaves may be re-used 3 times
Green Tea
- Heat water to not quite boiling (180 degrees -cooler than oolong)
- Boiling water will cause green tea to be bitter.
- Steep 1-2 minutes
White Tea

- Like green tea, to not quite boiling (180 degrees)
- Steep 30 seconds-2 minutes
Herbal Tisanes
- Heat water to a full rapid boil
- Steep 5-10 minutes
Caffeine Guideline Comparison
While coffee and tea are both sources of caffeine, the amounts in any single serving varies significantly. Tea provides 1/2 to 1/3 as much caffeine in the same size serving.
When measured in its dry form, coffee contains less caffeine than tea. But when prepared, it is the opposite.
